Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. It occurs when abnormal cells in the lungs grow uncontrollably, forming tumors that can spread to other parts of the body. The two main types are non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Smoking is the primary risk factor, but exposure to pollutants, radon gas, and genetic factors also play a role. Symptoms include persistent cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, and unexplained weight loss. Early detection through screening improves survival rates, and treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy.
